Formerly the home of the Showers Brothers Furniture Company, the building was remodeled for use as the current city hall, a research facility for Indiana University, and a commercial space for CFC, Inc., a local developer. At one time, half of the furniture sold in the United States was made here.
Oliver Winery was founded by William Oliver, an IU law instructor and wine lover. The winery opened in 1972 offering "Camelot Mead." Since then, red and white wines are produced, several of which are award-winning. Over 600,000 gallons of wine are now produced annually.
