A very pretty, non-native plant (Crocosmia x crocosmifolia) that can be highly invasive. Originally created in France from plants of South African origin. Spread rapidly across the UK and Ireland in the early part of the 20th century.

These boats in an Irish (European Union) harbor represent one of the reasons that the United Kingdom gave for leaving the EU. The red boat is the Melodie from France. The blue boat on the far left (Apollo) is from the UK and is next to another blue boat (Aspin) from France. The UK wished to eliminate EU access to UK water. By 2026 the UK will be able to do so, based on the deal it negotiated with the EU.
