Fairfield Hills Hospital

Fairfield Hills Hospital, a mental hospital which operated from 1931 to 1995, at one time housed as many as 4000 patients. Due to changes in treatment options and funding, it was closed in 1995 and subsequently deeded to the town of Newtown, Connecticut, in 2004. Although several buildings were repurposed, most had to be demolished.
